PROJECT TYPE
In 2021, MOTF approached Dot with the intention of creating legal documentation that matched their forward-thinking brand image. The project focused on their non-disclosure agreement (NDA), which is the first legal touchpoint with the inventors and entrepreneurs they aim to attract. Therefore, we undertook a legal design project to enhance the quality of their NDA.
THE BRIEF
The goal was to develop a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) that combines simplicity, clarity, legal robustness, and brand representation. We aimed to reduce the legal team's approval time from 30 minutes to approximately 5 minutes. Additionally, we focused on enhancing efficiency by minimizing complaints and accelerating the process from drafting to signing the NDA.
THE GOAL
Our project commenced with a focused two-hour kickoff meeting, followed by three iterative rounds that included brainstorming, concept presentations for the new NDA, and two prototyping phases. This process culminated in the creation of two comprehensive, mutually agreeable NDAs – one unilateral and one bilateral.
THE PROCESS
We successfully aligned the NDA with MOTF’s brand ethos, transforming it into a powerful brand statement without compromising its legal integrity. The result is an NDA that the MOTF team can distribute with confidence. We distilled the document to its essential elements, achieving an elegant legal tool where nothing superfluous remains. By halving the document's length from eight to four pages, we not only met but exceeded our project goals, creating a streamlined and efficient NDA.
